For 2o years the Yang Family Tai Chi Chuan Association has been having tai chi seminars and practice workshops at the Maron hotel in Danbury, CT. The Maron Hotel has become like family over the years and we are sad that the hotel has been sold. The shirts below were designed with the spirit of flexibility and changes in life and in memory of all the great times training at the hotel.
In the practice of tai chi, and in particular the partner exercises of tai chi push hands, there is a saying, ‘Do not separate, do not resist’. This has many meanings. One of the basic meanings is to not separate from your partner. When practicing push hands you are physically touching your partner and you do not want to separate or disengage from them even for the slightest moment. Also, you do not want to resist the movements of your partner. If you resist their movements you will disrupt the flow of energy between the two of you. In practicing tai chi we want to maintain an even and gentle flow of energy. The inspiration behind this design is to be infinitely fluid and flexible while remembering to not separate and to not resist our obstacles in life.
